Insta{LOVE} Weekend Recap

Let's talk weekend, even though today is your Tuesday, it's my Monday. I had such a good long weekend y'all. Probably the best weekend I've had in a long time. I drank too much alcohol, ate way too much horrible food, danced a little, hung out with my family & some good friends, caught up on sleep and saw a good movie. Whew - that's a lot to cover in 3 days!

Before I start just showering you with my weekend pictures, let's talk about the movie Savages.

Let me just start by saying that I STILL HAVE NOT SEEN Magic Mike! Tragic, I know. It's killing me! I am going this coming weekend fo sho. But yesterday I was with Skye and there's no way I was talking him into that one, so we decided on Savages. I have been intrigued by this movie ever since I saw the first preview. I don't want to ruin it if you haven't seen it, but I loved it! I was really impressed with Blake Lively in this one. I'm not a Gossip Girl fan, so I've never seen much of her work, but this was a bit of a wild role and I thought she nailed it.  (My only advice ~ It's a bit graphic - language, sex, drugs everything- so don't go with someone you might feel shy around.) Plus, staring at these two hotties didn't hurt!

Insta{LOVE} Weekend Recap

Howdy! I hope that nobody stroked out from the heat this past weekend. I think we officially broke a record here on Saturday and made it to 105. With 90% humidity that just feels like sweaty death. Luckily, I was at the lake so I kept myself in the water! 

First item of business for the day is that I'm guest posting today for Megan at Second Floor Living. Megan lives in South Africa - how awesome is that?? That's just one of the reasons I love her though. She's started this really neat series for the summer called Owning Your City. I'm over there today talking about how I own Knoxville. My weekend was awesome! Skye was off, and he has taken several weekends off this summer so we could spend more lake time together. I am going to be spoiled by this and probably will cry the next full weekend he has to work. We got to spend time with old friends who we don't get to see very often and watch fireworks to celebrate America. The 4th of July is probably my favorite holiday. I love the summer time, the cookouts, all the patriotic talk and of course the fireworks! We used to have a big 4th of July party at our house every year. We would shoot off our own fireworks (yes we are rednecks) and a friend of ours has even been known to stick bottle rockets in his butt cheeks and fire them off (if that doesn't say redneck then I don't know what does!). I wish I had a picture to show you of that, but sadly I don't. It was so much fun! This will be the 2nd year in a row that we have not had the party - makes me sad!

I digress... Ready for my weekend recap in pictures??? Of course you are! Who isn't ready to see more pictures of the lake that I am always blabbing about? Insta{LOVE} Weekend Recap

Hey party people!! First thing's first today - I'm guest blogging over at Simply Sarah today! I'm dishing the details on my what's in my (lake) bag, so check it out!

I had such a good weekend, but I stayed so busy that it literally disappeared before my eyes. I squeezed in a little  cloudy lake time Saturday, then I was off to my friend's wedding. The ceremony was so sweet and the reception was a blast! It was one of the best receptions I've been to. SO FUN! There was an open bar, hence why I somehow managed to forget to take any pictures. Needless to say a good time was had by all! Sunday was a lazy lake day with my daddy. He works so hard and this is the first chance we've had to get up to the lake together all summer. It's sad! I am so thankful for him and seeing him at the lake with his open heart surgery scar really reminds me that I'm lucky to have him!

Insta{LOVE} Weekend Recap

Long weekends are the best thing this side of a vacation! Skye was off Sunday & Monday so we fully planned to spend time lounging in the sun at the lake. Mother nature had other plans in store for us. Saturday was gorgeous here, unfortunately Skye was working. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon reading, I finished 50 Shades of Grey and moved on to 50 Shades Darker (I've since finished and moved on to Book 3). I sat in the sun while I read and then cleaned my house. Sucks, but it was much needed! Sunday & Monday was just rainy - ick. Not ideal for working on my tan at all. We did get some sun time on Friday after work at least!

The biggest excitement this weekend came from Tilly's new scalping haircut. We took her to a try out a new groomer and look what happened. Obviously, the groomer decided to veer away from the typical Pomeranian lion cut. I love a pom's hair long, but my girl loves to play outside so I like to keep her hair shorter in the summer. It's just less hot for her and less mess for me. She's still as cute as she can be, but she looks like a Chihuahua instead of a pom!

Insta{LOVE} Weekend Recap

I feel like I must put in the typical Monday sentence that "my weekend went by too fast"! I was so busy this weekend that it just disappeared. I had a baby shower, a birthday party, a wedding venue visit, and I still had to find time to do my regular house cleaning, etc. I did manage to find 2 relaxing hours to sit outside in the sun on the gorgeous 75 degree sunny day and finish The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - FINALLY! I'm a really fast reader and I cannot believe how long it took me to read this book! Now I can move on to 50 Shades! I sure did eat everything that crossed my path this weekend so you better believe that I am going to detox myself this week. Self control engaged. Why is it that sometimes it's so hard and other times it's not? Especially the first week after your (over)indulge yourself! Wish me luck.

I can't believe how blessed my life has been lately! Planning this wedding just makes me feel like such a lucky duck! And on top of that I won TWO giveaways last week! Went out Friday night for my good friend's birthday. We went to a little tiki bar on the lake. It was actually freezing out! Sorry for the horrible picture quality!

Potential Wedding Venue #?? I lost count! Tellico Yacht Club. I adore this view. The dock pictured here is where we would actually have the ceremony. I'm pretty sure we have a winner! Plus, this is very close to the spot where we got engaged so it just feels right to me.

Took my girl with me to run some errands last night. She's usually all over the car and sticks her face right up in the air vents. However, I seemed to capture her here in a moment of rest.

{InstaLOVE} Weekend Recap

I've grown quite fond of doing these little Instagram Weekend Recaps. It's a really fun way to show off a little bit about my real life to you. I hope you like it too! (I think you do because I always get sweet comments!) If you are new to my blog then come find me on there, it's my favorite hang out these days, {@Nikkib918} I had a really great weekend - and judging by those of you that I also follow on Insta, you did too! Even though Skye had to work the whole time, I still managed to get A LOT done around the house. Funny how that always seems to happen when he's away! And I still found time to hang with him since he was on day shift, and get in a little lake time.

A little update on my doggy day care situation, we are getting rid of our little friend Ty tomorrow because his family will be back in town. I hate to say I'm thankful to see him go, but it's true! He has proceeded to try and hump Tilly every chance he gets and I will NOT be having that! Skye makes fun of me and says they can't help it, it's their natural instincts. However, this doggy mama is not watching her girl get nailed by the neighbor's dog. Sorry for the crudeness there. Not sure if all this action has triggered her hormones or what but last night I caught her humping him too. He has corrupted my sweet Tilly! Thankfully, they are both fixed so no worries about little pups running around. It was quite the interesting situation at my house this weekend!

{InstaLOVE} Weekend Recap

Oh hello my friends! I feel like it's been so long - oh wait it HAS been so long! My lake getaway was simply amazing! I couldn't imagine a better 4 day weekend than the one that I just experienced. Nothing beats spending time with some of my favorite people in my favorite place in the entire world, Norris Lake! I can't wait to catch up on all my reading and see what happened with you this weekend.

I have a couple things to update you on, then we can get straight to the pictures!

• I am the lucky winner of an awesome Moroccan Hair Oil product giveaway from Kelly over at Messy.Dirty.Hair!! So exciting! If you don't know Kelly, then hop on over and pay her a visit. She has another fab NEON giveaway going on as we speak!
• I received my first semi-mean spirited Anonymous comment on my Mama Drama post today. At first I was shocked a) at how long it was and b) the detail this person went into. However, if you're going to go through such trouble then why hide behind an Anonymous tag? if that's the way you feel then own it! Thanks for reading though! :)
• If you live in or near Clearwater, FL then you need to get in touch with me! I will be there mid August for a conference for work so I would LOVE to meet up if there's any bloggers in the neighborhood!
• All 5 of my bridesmaids will be in town the week of Memorial Day so I'm hoping we can all get together to go try on bridesmaids dresses! The wedding planning has not really changed any since I last updated you. I still haven't chosen the venue yet, hopefully soon though.
• I STILL have not started reading the 50 Shades of Grey book, I have been so busy!
