Motivational Monday

It's Monday...

And after a week like last week, (which most people got to spend lounging at home, but I still had to make my way into work) I need a little motivation. PS - can you believe I'm blogging for the THIRD time with in a week??

Spreading the love today! Happy Monday my loves!

1. Treat yo self
I'm a huge Parks & Rec fan! I have adopted the treat yo self motto practically as my own. When you're single I feel that it really is necessary to treat yo self every now and then. You deserve it! That's what I told myself when I spend a crap ton of money last week during the snow/ice storm shopping online. A little treat yo self goes a looooong way in my book. Can be as simple as a Starbucks run, whatever your little heart desires. Indulge on a Monday!

2. After you treat yo self - treat someone else
After my Lent post last week, plenty of you little sweethearts reached out to encourage me. (I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!) It's so incredibly uplifting to be reminded of your magic when you forget. For someone from the outside looking in - heck, sometimes someone who has never even met you - to remind you that you're pretty awesome. Remember a time when someone reminded you of your magic - channel that today and lift someone up.

Little Giveaway!!
Leave a comment and tell me someone you'd like to encourage this week & why. I have a $15 giftcard to Target I'm willing to give away to a random lucky winner just to brighten their day!

3. All aboard the healthy train - choooo chooooo
I have been eating like a horse. Also, I've been lazy. Lazy like a (insert animal that is incredibly lazy). We are about 3-ish months away from summer. Me continuing to eat like a horse will NOT make me a happy camper once lake season is here. I want to be proud of my body this summer! Even in a bathing suit. Back to the gym I go. I'm officially announcing here that I am training for a 5k in April. For the first time in like 2 years. Pray for me y'all - I MIGHT DIE! I probably can't even run a single mile right now. It's been many moons and many pounds ago that I even tried. I want to attract a boyfriend in the future who is into fitness too. It helps so much to have someone who can workout with you and encourage you.

My girls Cassie & Lindsay have been a huge inspiration to me with their fitness journeys so - y'all better keep me in line. Overall I'd like to drop 30 lbs from where I'm at right now. I know it won't be done overnight so please reach out to me and encourage me!

4. I am the nerdiest of nerds - and I'm so okay with it
When I was younger, I was a little embarrassed by how nerdy I was. A lot of my friends weren't into school like I was. Much less dinosaurs, history, science, reading and all the awesome things that I loved to learn about. I tried to hide it. I actually pulled a little Lindsay Lohan from Mean Girls and tried to act dumb a time or two. Then I had a teacher in high school who really taught me how much better it is to embrace your inner nerd. Being intelligent is attractive. And awesome. We all like weird things. My obsession with US presidents & the civil war isn't weird - it's just MY thing. Well, one of my things. (I feel like I have more "things" than most)

LONG winded story short - I have decided I am going to reward myself with this mug. After I lose 15 lbs (half my goal), that is. It's a nerdy gift and I LOVE IT! Back on the healthy wagon, plus a sweet reward for a prize.

How's that for a Monday???

30 Miles in 30 Days - October

Call me a slacker if you will, but this girl has not had time to blog much the past 2 weeks. Between work, family/friends, football, trying to get back into working out, dating, kickball and my church small group I am a busy little bee! I have been doing so-so with eating, but I gotta give it to myself for the 5am club deal. I'm rockin' it a little bit- LIKE A BOSS!

I've decided to link up again for the 30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge. I need it to help hold me accountable. I need the miles. Plus, I started this whole challenge so I want to be a part of it.

30 Miles In 30 Days - June - Guest Post

Hey Pink Growl Readers!!!My name is Amanda aka Manda. For those of you wondering who the heck I am, I blog over at Adventures of Manda and Mr Howie. I took over for the wonderful and beautiful, Ms Nikki, as the host for 30 in 30. I'm just stopping by over here to fill in for Nikki today while she's off playing Nashville...without me. You can't tell I'm a tad bit jealous, can you?? Anywhoo...enough about my turning green with envy.

Are you joining us? Have you joined us in the past?
Adventures of Manda and Mr Howie

I'm so glad Nikki got me hooked on this! I seriously attribute me losing this last bit of weight to her. I think I'd still be stuck on my plateau if she hadn't asked me to start walking with her. Seriously! She's been so amazing to me through this whole process!

So, I was searching Pinterest for fitness inspiration and I stumbled across this!
via
How fitting is this when it comes to working out and our fitness goals?!? I've had so many people tell me they don't think they could do this challenge and so they aren't even going to try. You know what? Yes you can! So stop telling yourself that bull shit story!

Let me share a lil piece of wisdom I've learned this past year...
One of my favorite family sayings (yes this really is a family saying) is "You can't bullshit a bullshiter!"  Now I've realized recently, you can't bullshit a bullshiter unless the bullshiter is you! Ok, let me elaborate for a second. You know how you can call someone else's bullshit at times, lies they tell to themselves or to someone else? Why is it that you can see when someone else is feeding you a line of bull, but you can't when it's you doing the feeding? When you stand in the mirror, you see everything wrong and convince yourself you are a) too big/too little, b) not pretty, c) you need to fix (fill in the blank), etc. We need to stop feeding ourselves the bs and build ourselves up!!!

So how did I do this week?
June 6: nada- rained
June 7: 1 mile walked
June 8: nada- roadtrip to somewhere special- will share soon
June 9: 2 miles walked
June 10: nada- sicker than a dog
June 11: 1.1 miles walked
June 12: 1 mile walked (too hot and muggy to do much more outside. Boo!)
Totals for this week: 5.1
Totals for this month: 15.25
So not as good as I would have liked, but due to weather and not feeling well, I'm glad I got in anything at all. I think this next week, if the weather stays ungodly hot, I'll definitely be making my way to the staff gym.

So how did you all do this week?
Do you need a little encouragement? Doesn't hesitate to let me know!!
If you don't blog, don't forget you can still link up with IG by using the hash tag #30in30junelinkup.
That way, we can still cheer you on!

Remember, this is not a competition. As long as you're moving, that's what really matters!
If you want someone to compete with...
Hope y'all are having a great week!
xoxo-Manda

30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge - AKA I sucked in May

I SUCKED IN MAY!!! Whew...feels good to get that off my chest! Okay so during March-April-May I felt like I was ready to make changes with my ever growing body and stick with my goals...but NOPE I wasn't. Over the past 3 months, if I would have stuck to my goals I would have lost weight and probably been a lot happier with my body image right now. Let me just tell you that sometimes it takes a dang scare tactic to set me into action and WOW hello my 25 lbs heavier than summer body in the same bikini....Yikes.... I barely have words. Not cute...and it honestly felt terrible to be ashamed. So...moving forward I am seriously I swear going to take this summer to get myself in better shape/health and get fully back on track <------ Are you sick of hearing me say this yet?? Thank you ALL for supporting this link up and supporting me!

BIG NEWS - since I am going to be really focusing on myself this summer, I am turning over hosting the 30 Miles in 30 Days Linky to Manda from The Adventures of Manda & Mr. Howie. if you don't already know her, you will love her. Manda is a HUGE source of inspiration and daily support for my crazy ways and she and I originally started this challenge together, just the two of us so I know she will be a fabulous new host! And since most people wanted to keep going for June...this works out. Here is her button for next week-
Adventures of Manda and Mr Howie

I will still be working out - obviously - and I might even try to link up, but I really want to mix up my workouts and probably even work with a trainer to reach my goals. I am actually going to being doing a bootcamp with a local trainer who is AMAZING! She's a UT soccer player alum and is Under Armour endorsed. You've seen these awesome girl power UA ads? THIS IS HER! Starting Saturday - so excited!

I basically got defeated and gave up this month. I couldn't tell you the last time I hit the gym at 5:30am, I haven't been able to suffer through my Insanity workouts in a week. All I have done in the past week is Zumba. My mind completely got the best of me. I am thankful for fresh starts!

30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge - May Week 3

I feel awful that I am hosting this challenge and not at all meeting the expectations. Just for the record, I'm still being active and at least not gaining weight anymore. WHEW! But now I gotta get over this hump of binge days and begin the losing cycle. It's definitely a process, but I'm gonna do it! Also, I hate to say this...but I am not going to be hosting the 30 in 30 for June. I am really going to focus on my personal weight loss goals and I'm will be switching up a lot of my workouts and (hopefully) still doing Insanity. I would love to have someone else take over hosting it...or maybe I will just let it go away and possibly bring it back in the fall. Let me know if you'd want to host the linky for others!

Don't forget to show some love to the sweet Ms. Sarah who created this super cute button for the link up!

30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge - Week 2 Update

May is kicking my booty! 30 Miles in 30 Days seems like a far away goal for me at this point, but I will continue to try and push my body. I blame Insanity! Today is Day 9 and OMG I can see why they call it Insanity - Shawn T is a machine! I have committed myself to this though and I AM GOING TO FINISH THIS 60 DAYS EVEN IF IT KILLS ME!! And it very well might. Exhibit A from Day 7's workout - killer shin splints from Pure Cardio day. Jumping on my hardwood floors in old shoes was so very painful.

I got lots of comments on Instagram & FB about my creativity with my ice packs! haha :)

30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge - May Week 1

I'm just going to start May by admitting that I am a total and complete slacker with this challenge right now. BUT I have started Insanity too (today will be Day 3 of 60) so it's a little hard to balance them both. That's my excuse! I will be playing catch up this weekend with my miles. I promise y'all I finish with at least 30 for the month.

Thankful Thursday

Since it's only May 2, I will hold off on the 30 in 30 May link up until next week. So spread the word!

I know I've been pretty mushy around here lately, but you can stand just one more day of it. I talked on Tuesday about me being so hard on myself about my body and it really has a negative effect on my self-confidence. I know most of us struggle with this at different times in our lives. But I am trying to be thankful for what I DO have vs. complaining about what I DON'T have. The Lord has been working in my life y'all. I know we don't all believe the same way, and that's perfectly okay. But these past 2 months or so that I have been dedicated to getting back in church and surrounding myself more with positive people have really changed me. I have been able to let go of grudges, forgive myself for things that I was struggling with, influence others, make peace with people, and just feel free. I have prayed about specific things and relationships in my life and God has answered those prayers. (So sorry - I am not trying to get preachy with you guys!) Basically, my point is we all have a lot to be thankful for. No matter what you have going on in your life or what has happened to you in the past. Plus, I've said it before and you KNOW it's true positivity is contagious.

I have so many small goals for May; I know it will be difficult to juggle them all. But I really am in a place of focusing on bettering myself. My 2 major goals for May will be: 1) Work towards getting back to a healthier lifestyle, be active, make smarter eating choices  2) Be Thankful Every Single Day. Seems pretty simple, right?

Other little tid bits for you -
I have a little surprise for you tomorrow! I'm off work (HELLO, 3 DAY WEEKEND!) so I have asked a special girl to fill in for me. You'll love her - promise! And speaking of surprises, I have a BIG one planned for the end of May when we wrap up the 30 in 30 challenge. So keep linking up and stay tuned for that!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and enjoy a little margarita in honor Cinco de Mayo! XOXO

30 Miles in 30 Days - April is OVA!

Week 4 is OVA! I start this month so strong and then slowly began to slack off and honestly again this month I struggled to finish with my 30 miles. I think I am the queen of doing things awesomely for two weeks, but ask me to do something for a month and I'll be damned if I can. This morning I had a real struggle as I tried to get dressed for work. This extra weight I've put on isn't cute in my clothes. I'm uncomfortable in my own body. I've struggled with even to keep going with this challenge for May, but I think I need the motivation and hopefully you do too. So we will be doing yet another round of 30 in 30 for May! I hope you'll come link up!

Also, my new blog friend Beth over at Hang On, Honey wrote an awesome post today about being nicer to yourself. This morning as I stood in my closet calling myself FAT and feeling ugly, I can relate to the need to be kinder to myself. Go read it and let's promise to work on being nicer to ourselves for May!

30 Miles in 30 Days - April Week 3

Short & Sweet today because I am a busy bee! I struggled a little bit this week with my cravings...but I have managed to keep it mostly in check. And my work schedule has been so busy that I haven't had much time to get in miles. I am absolutely dedicated to running BOTH Saturday & Sunday to get ahead of the game. Thanks to my wonderful friend Nikki (cute name, right?) who I can text a moment's notice and she offers me encouragement constantly. She even text me this morning to make sure my booty was in the gym at 530! She's awesome!

30 Miles in 30 Days - April Week 2

I told ya'll that I was gonna kill it in April and so far I've stuck true to my word. I've been really proud of myself for my willpower with not snacking and backing off sweets. I even had two nights last week where I had a few beers, but that didn't derail my progress. I did Zumba bright & early Saturday morning with a slight hangover and let me just tell you that was a challenge! I almost tossed my cookies a couple times and can't say that I gave it my all, but I still managed to burn 700 calories. YES! It feels so good to feel my body loosen up and see my clothes fitting just a little bit looser after only one week. It's definitely motivation to keep pushing towards my goals.

HERE WE GO FOR APRIL! I hope that all you lovely ladies who have expressed interest are going to be linking up today and telling us your fitness stories for the first week in April. If you are new to the challenge for April then WELCOME! Here are the guidelines: Get in 30 Miles in 30 Days pretty much any way you can. Running, jogging, walking, elliptical, bike - whatever works for your fitness level. Keep track of your miles each week and link up on Thursdays to tell us how you did it. Let's get ready for our summer bodies!
Gotta love the Elle Woods theory! Saving husbands one 30 day challenge at a time! :)

The purpose of this challenge is basically to get you active. We are measuring that in miles for this challenge, but we could measure in calories burned or minutes of activity in the future. I struggled with my self esteem and eating during March, but I have high hopes for April! And if you want to stay connected I am posting some updates via Twitter & Instagram {nikkib918} too. I have seen the #30milesin30days hashtag on Twitter and I love it! Makes me happy! Manda was my original partner for this whole challenge and she killed it last month. Now Ms. Kelly has asked to get involved because she had a Fitness Friday linkup. So we will all 3 be promoting the challenge this month - so no excuses for not having a support team!

Updates on This Week's Progress:
  • I have worked out every single day this week - Zumba Mon, Gym Tuesday, At Home Circuit Wed & Gym Thursday!
