Tuesday's Devotion

3 of my gal pal co-workers and I have decided to start doing a little 15 minute devotional on Tuesday & Thursday mornings before the hustle and bustle of our work day begins. This might sound a little "preachy" but I just wanted to share this with you because it helped me today. I know I am in NO position to be giving our spiritual guidance. My life is the definition of a hot mess right now, but if it helps me then it might help someone else.

We are just doing the free YouVersion app of the Joyce Meyer's Promises For Your Everyday Life. I've mentioned here before that I am not the most spiritual person you will ever find. I am sometimes ashamed to admit that you will not find me in church every Sunday, or even most Sundays. But I am a firm believer and a child of God. I make mistakes and He forgives me, one of those being not being a close enough follower during the good times. I am going to try my best to make a conscious effort this year to grow my relationship with God.

Today's devotion spoke to that subject exactly and it just struck a chord with me so I wanted to share that thought with you. We always turn to Him when times are tough in our lives, when we need comfort or support; we undoubtedly know He is there. But do you talk to God when you are happy, excited, anxious or complacent? As a girl who has overcome so many obstacles in my life, I take comfort in a higher power who is always in control. Keyword: always. He is in control of the good & the bad.

Helpful tip: Instead of talking through a situation today with yourself or your best friend - talk it through with God. Let go and let God take that control. All my Type A girls know this one is rough, but even just making that effort will help relieve so much of our stress.

Weekly Goals

Y'all it's Monday...and we have to work a full 5 days this week. That looks even worse typed out than it felt when I said it in my head. It feels so daunting!

I was a slacker this weekend and didn't take any pictures...nope not one. So I have decided to stray from the tradition weekend update route today. Instead let's talk about goals. Since it's the first Monday of 2013 it's only appropriate to fill your brain with this insane notion that I am going to set out to accomplish all these lofty goals.

First, here is what I DID get crossed off my to-do list this weekend:
-Took down the Christmas decorations
-went to Zumba class at 9 am on Saturday
-cleaned my house
-eat non-stop...wait - that wasn't actually on my list but I did do it

I have an epic girl's weekend to look forward to starting this Friday in Nashville with Kim & Cassie and a couple non-blogger friends...so I have to get my game face on. Ever since the week of Christmas I have been eating my feelings. I went from not eating my feelings to completely devouring my feelings. Can't a girl just find a happy medium in there somewhere? I've gained back all the weight I lost post-breakup, except for 2 lbs. I feel yucky in my body right now. I need a detox! This week I am going to do right by my body. Workout consistently, eat right, drink my water and after this girl's weekend I am going to slow down on the drinking and going out. Bottom line is I have to deal with these emotions that I'm still experiencing and not eat/drink everything in sight. MIND OVER MATTER. A healthy me will be a happy me, which will help me get my mind right for when I'm ready to start dating again. Ugh let's not even approach that subject right now.

Goals for this week:
-lose 2 lbs.
-drink at least 72 oz of water each day
-3 workouts by Friday

Easy, attainable, done! <End Rant>

Friday's Letters

Dear First Friday in 2013 -You have presented me with running on 4 hours of sleep, possibly waking up still semi-drunk, and hauling ass to McDonald's this morning to get my greasy breakfast & caffeine fix. Not the most responsible or healthy way to end the week, but I wouldn't trade it for a night out with my brother and his friends.

Dear Zumba - due to aforementioned binge I will be seeing your pretty face bright and early tomorrow morning! Dear Papercut On the Bendy Part of my Index Finger - You suck, go away. Dear Lazy - You need to get on outta here too because those Christmas decorations ain't gonna take themselves down. Dear Niki @ Glossy Blonde - I am loving the giveaway I won for the Fine Featherhead Fly Ties!! Thank you! (That's a mouthful by the way, try saying that 3x fast)

Dear 5 o'clock - you cannot come soon enough today. Dear Summer - I want you to get here, like yesterday. I used to like Winter too, but I changed my mind. I'm a girl, I'm allowed to do that. I miss my lazy lake days.

Happy Weekend my loves!

Random Wednesday

How appropriate is it that my first post in 2013 is a Random Wednesday? I think it's very fitting! So let's randomly chat...

My short & sweet goals for 2013:
1. Learn to sew/hem
2. See Luke Bryan - I've got this one in the bag!
3. Find happiness within myself & be thankful everyday
4. Travel somewhere fabulous

2013 Mantra

Short & sweet & to the point. And like everyone else in the world I'm back on the healthy train today. I've been abusing my body for the past 2 months. First, not eating at all and losing weight post breakup. Then I had a massive battle with PMS the week before Christmas and ate everything in sight and gained 4 lbs. Oh yeah and let's not forget my  alcoholic tendencies... My body is screaming at me for some serious workout time.

Here is a picture recap of my weekend & NYE for you too! You can find me on Instagram at {nikkib918}.

I can think of nothing better than a gold glitter bottle of Moscato

Girls Night Last Friday...SUCCESS!
