Thursday Things to Love...Kinda

Hmmmm what have I been up to in the past couple of weeks that I could tell you about?

- John Legend – sweet talked my way into seeing him in concert a couple weekends ago and he was AMAZING! Probably one of the most intimate concert settings I’ve ever been to, and I had a pretty cute date so I was a happy girl. Some babies were definitely made that night! (not by me) Of course I didn’t take any pictures or videos, but trust me if you get the chance to go see him GO!

- I’ve decided to take a little break from dating and boys. I just need a breather. I’ve been exhausted lately by so many aspects of the dating game. And wouldn’t you know it, week two into this break and my face is suddenly ALL cleared up! No boys = no stress. AND a guy who I’ve had a huge crush on for a while finally asked me out. But I said no. I was serious about taking the break! I have a couple of dating posts drafted, but sometimes I just can’t find the right words to say…

- I survived what would have been my 1st wedding anniversary. Weird thing to say, right? But if Skye and I would have actually made it down the aisle then 4/27 would have been our 1 year anniversary. It’s completely insane to think how much my life has changed since we set that date!! I spent that Sunday praising God for all the ways He has worked & healed me since last year (when I spent that same date on the floor bawling my eyes out in WalMart and had to be carried out of there.) A lot can happen in a year!! And I'm sure my perspective will be even more changed by next year.

- Last weekend I went to see Kacey Musgraves, Billy Currington & Lady A in concert (I’m a concerting fool). I’ve always liked them, but was so impressed by seeing Billy & Lady A live. Such a great show! And I’ve had a girl crush on Kacey for a while so now I love her even more, she was awesome! And she always has the cutest boots, I might add. One of my fav parts of the concert was when Billy sang Bruno Mars “Treasure”! I love it when artists mix it up and sing other genre songs. And you know they killed it in Knoxville when they broke out Rocky Top.

- As you read this, I am on my way to Charlotte to see Judah Smith on the Jesus Is Tour. I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!! Read his book (Jesus Is ____) a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to hear him speak and to worship at Elevation Church! Here is the promo video for the tour. PS- It's FREE if he is coming to speak at a city near you!

That about covers it! Consider yourself up to date on my life. I have a nice long weekend that I fully plan on enjoying so I hope you enjoy yours too.

You are amazing my sweet friend! WOW! 365 days since everything happened, and you are so strong and brave. I'm proud of you!

And well done, sticking to your guns about not dating. A break is definitely needed sometimes.

It's OK to take a break from dating - it's exhausting!! I lasted a whole 3 weeks on that christian website...haven't checked it in 2 weeks and just got charged for another month. ARG - I HATE dating.

LOVE YOU THOUGH!!! You are SO strong, I'm proud of you and jealous with all your concerts :)

Ooooh that 1st wedding anniversary... It sure is a doozy, isn't it? I had a mini party on mine. Sigh. Boys really are the worst. haha

I might be biased about John Legend because he's from Ohio like me, but I just LOVE him! I feel like we'd be friends. His voice, his talent. Love!

Jealous that you went to the John Legend concert!

YAY for surviving that date! I'm sure as time goes on, the day will be less and less painful as you get stronger!

Time sure does fly! Congrats on making it through the day & getting stronger & stronger day by day. Also, congrats on sticking to your no boys even when your crush asked you out on a date. I saw Billy in February for the first time. He was so good.

Hooray for getting past it like a champ, you're a rock star :)
I love Billy Currington. I saw him in college my senior year... so 2007... at a casino when no one knew who he was! Front row and all, I love him!

Okay, I don't even know why but when I read how you spent 4/27 last year, I immediately started crying. My heart just breaks that you felt that way, and I'm so proud of how strong you are and how much you've survived the last few years. Love you, friend.

Good for you for turning down a date with your crush! I'm with you on taking a break from boys and dating. I went on a ridiculous date last night that I wanted to walk out of (too many awkward silences), and the guy has asked if I'd like to see him again. Ugh, no!

I'm glad you started the break after seeing John Legend! I saw before he was really big and he was amazinnnng! So glad you got to see him! And you are way more focused and stronger than me- I think if a guy I'd been crushing on asked me out, I might have caved! Have a great weekend!

oh hey concert goer! at first i was so jealous of john legend but then...Kacey Musgraves!!!! I have been addicted to her "Keep it to yourself" song...mostly because of...you guessed it "dating situations"....gah our lives are so parallel sometimes...well minus all the cool concerts. enjoy that clear skin and all that freedom ;)

I think it says SO much about you that you were able to walk away from a relationship that you weren't confident in. And the fact that you've fully "recovered" from that ending definitely shows that you made the right choice.

Also, I love that even though a guy you had been crushing on asked you out - you still said no. You've got a lot more sense about yourself than I do. Haha.
