Confession Session

Everybody who is anybody knows that on Wednesdays we offer up our confessions with Kathy.  And it's about that time. I'm not Catholic by any means, but I gotta admit that confessing feels good.

I confess...

I have the itch to get a new tattoo. I only have the one, and I've had it since I was 22. It's definitely time. And when I say I have the itch, I mean I want like 6 of them. Those suckers are addicting.

Loving and forgiving like Jesus does is hard work. Sometimes I surprise myself, but mostly I fail at it. I'm a pretty petty human like that. The awesome thing about God is, His grace is new for me every.single.day. He's not a grudge holder or a score keeper, he just lets me start fresh daily. Our God is an awesome God!

There are days when I wish I had a sugar daddy. (Today is one of those days.)

I'm a huge LeBron fan. Always have been. It always shocks me how many people truly hate him. If you're one of those people then read this Clay Travis article - and step away from the haterade. GO HEAT!

My iphone is dangerously close to dying. I've had it for 2.5 years and I'm still rocking the old iOS software because I never had room for the upgrade. I'm trying to watch my pennies for my mission trip in July right now, but I have been lusting after the gold 5s for a while now. I think it needs to be mine. See above comment about sugar daddy...

I still haven't gone to see Maleficent or The Fault In Our Stars...who am I????

There are days when I would rather lay around on my couch watching the Real Housewives than hangout with anybody. When in the world did I become so lazy? PS - I miss crazy Kim Zolciak!

First Things First, I'm the Realest

If you are at all like me, then you are seriously loving what Iggy Azelea has to offer right now - including the Fancy song with the post title lyrics. I mean, have you seen the video with her and TI? Whoa too much hotness! I can't seem to get enough of her. And just for your information - did you know that her real first name is Amethyst? Well now you do!

I loved reading all your comments on my catch up post. That's what I miss about blogging, my sweet friends! I'm not sure that I will end up coming back to blogging full time 3-5x a week like before. I'm just not at that place in my life anymore. I've seen so many posts about "is blogging dead?" and I'm not sure if that's true, but I know lots of us are in a transition time where we aren't on a regular schedule anymore.

I did want to share with you a fundraising site that I made this past weekend for my Dominican Republic Mission Trip! I had several people ask me for ways to donate - which totally melted my heart, by the way. So if you feel so inclined - here you go: Nikki's Mission Trip. THANK YOU so much to anyone who even contemplates donating $5 to this cause. It's so special to me and I hope to continue to update you on everything - especially since it's coming up so soon.

I wanted to share a couple other good reads that I've come across lately. I've mentioned before but I LOVE reading single girl/dating posts. I life this single life and honestly it's not always easy. But I remember pleeeenty of days that weren't easy when I was part of a relationship either, so I'm sure the same goes for actually being married. Either way, it's nice to get encouragement no matter what phase you're in.

Single girl reads:
My girl Micah did this dating post, and I loved it. We all have these preconceived rules I think. I know I did/do.
In general:
Single or married girls - this is a must read. You are significant with our without a significant other. Sometimes we just need to hear that.

Until next time, my loves! XOXO

Life Catch Up

WOW I cannot believe it's been 28 days since my last post!! Am I even allowed to technically call myself a blogger anymore? Yeah...probably not. I have missed reading your stories and telling you mine SO MUCH, but honestly life has been happening! And I ain't mad about that!

So here's a little catch up for your reading pleasure ~

I know the big thing everybody wants to know about is this boy I've been vaguely tweeting about! Kinda funny that in my last Thursday Things To Love post I mentioned that I was taking a dating break. And I really had every intention in my heart to do that! But the boy I said had asked me out and I turned him down in that post? Well he asked me out a couple more times and after turning him down again, I recognized his persistence and agreed to go out with him. Well that was a month ago and we have been together almost everyday since then. I affectionately refer to him as my "almost boyfriend". I forgot how much fun it is to feel this excited! This is the by far the biggest risk I've taken in a year and a half, and honestly even though it's a little scary - it's mostly just filling my heart up. I already have my hopes up, don't get me wrong, but I really want God to be in control of this situation. I don't want to rush it or try to control it. I just want to enjoy it for the blessing that it's been. Maybe more to come on him later...

More good news is that I'm going on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic at the end of July. I cannot tell you how genuinely excited I am!!! I'm still not 100% how I am going to make all the money pieces come together, but I know they will. I feel so led to go and even if I can't spend a penny until then, I will make it work. Will you just pray for me? Will you pray that all the funding comes together and that our group stays focused on our mission and keeps our eyes on God during this awesome time? Thank you friends! I  would appreciate it so much!

Speaking of praying, please keep my mama in your prayers too. (I know I'm asking a lot of you guys today!) I can't remember if I shared the news here or not, but we found out at the end of April that not only is she still battling the stage 4 lung cancer after over a year - but now she's also been diagnosed with stage 2 leukemia. Some days are better than others, but she is really sick. I'm thankful that our relationship has improved so much during this sad time, but we still have rocky times. We really won't know more until later in June when she has another scan. The Lord is faithful, and I know He will take care of her during this time. That doesn't mean that her body will necessarily be healed of this awful cancer, but hopefully all the praying we are doing will comfort her and let her know she's not fighting alone.

Summertime is here finally! For me that means still striving to get my lake body back in shape after lots of neglect. I've made some good progress, and bought some new jeans but I still have a ways to go. I'm doing this challenge for June. My workouts have been so sporadic that I figure this is better than no workouts at all.

I think pretty much everything else is status quo around here. Things continue to happen at a rapid pace (feels like), but I think I'm just handling them better. Deep breaths!

I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite YouTube videos right now. You're welcome! :) Glad we got to take a few minutes to catch up. I won't be a such a stranger anymore, hopefully! XOXO

Thursday Things to Love...Kinda

Hmmmm what have I been up to in the past couple of weeks that I could tell you about?

- John Legend – sweet talked my way into seeing him in concert a couple weekends ago and he was AMAZING! Probably one of the most intimate concert settings I’ve ever been to, and I had a pretty cute date so I was a happy girl. Some babies were definitely made that night! (not by me) Of course I didn’t take any pictures or videos, but trust me if you get the chance to go see him GO!

- I’ve decided to take a little break from dating and boys. I just need a breather. I’ve been exhausted lately by so many aspects of the dating game. And wouldn’t you know it, week two into this break and my face is suddenly ALL cleared up! No boys = no stress. AND a guy who I’ve had a huge crush on for a while finally asked me out. But I said no. I was serious about taking the break! I have a couple of dating posts drafted, but sometimes I just can’t find the right words to say…

- I survived what would have been my 1st wedding anniversary. Weird thing to say, right? But if Skye and I would have actually made it down the aisle then 4/27 would have been our 1 year anniversary. It’s completely insane to think how much my life has changed since we set that date!! I spent that Sunday praising God for all the ways He has worked & healed me since last year (when I spent that same date on the floor bawling my eyes out in WalMart and had to be carried out of there.) A lot can happen in a year!! And I'm sure my perspective will be even more changed by next year.

- Last weekend I went to see Kacey Musgraves, Billy Currington & Lady A in concert (I’m a concerting fool). I’ve always liked them, but was so impressed by seeing Billy & Lady A live. Such a great show! And I’ve had a girl crush on Kacey for a while so now I love her even more, she was awesome! And she always has the cutest boots, I might add. One of my fav parts of the concert was when Billy sang Bruno Mars “Treasure”! I love it when artists mix it up and sing other genre songs. And you know they killed it in Knoxville when they broke out Rocky Top.

- As you read this, I am on my way to Charlotte to see Judah Smith on the Jesus Is Tour. I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!! Read his book (Jesus Is ____) a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to hear him speak and to worship at Elevation Church! Here is the promo video for the tour. PS- It's FREE if he is coming to speak at a city near you!

That about covers it! Consider yourself up to date on my life. I have a nice long weekend that I fully plan on enjoying so I hope you enjoy yours too.
