5 Cheap Cheats

It's no secret around here that I am cheap. We don't even have to be nice about it and say "frugal". Let's call it what it is, I'm cheap. I love living vicariously through all my blog friends with their expensive makeup,  designer clothes and pretty things but I am just not able to participate most of the time. So instead, I pride myself on finding amazing quality, yet low priced substitutes. I still want to feel pretty too!

I wanted to share with you my 5 favorites right now because everybody needs to know these little cheats. There are certain items that we are all attached to and will spend whatever necessary to get the real deal. Beauty products is a particular area that I am comfortable cutting costs and trying new products.

1. Rimmel Mascara - The Max Volume Flash
I am absolutely in love with this mascara. I've tried every mascara out there, because I feel like my eyelashes are one of my best physical qualities so I always try to accentuate them. In my experience, this stuff lasts all day, doesn't clump or smudge and I love the way it looks on my eyes. Price tag is about $6.99.

2. While we are on the subject of Rimmel and how much I love all their products...
Rimmel Pressed Powder - Stay Matte
I love the coverage this powder provides. It's enough to last most of the day, with minor touch ups. And for my oily T-zone face, that's saying a lot! There's not a huge selection of colors, but enough to find one that works for you. I think mine is "Sandstorm". Price tag is around $7-8 bucks.

3. Wet n' Wild Eyeshadow Shimmer Primer -
Whatever your personal opinion is on some eye shimmer, I sure do love it. I was a loyal MAC eyeshadow primer girl for YEARS. This is my first go round trying a new brand in a while, but so far I am 100% impressed with Wet n' Wild version. It's like $4 and it lasts all day. I love the color and it's just enough shimmer to make my eyes pop. Fergie has even put her stamp of approval on it.

4. Elf - Flawless Eyeshadow (Tantalizing Taupe)
If you haven't jumped on the elf bandwagon yet, then immediately stop what you are doing and run to Target to check their stuff out. (I think you can get certain items at Walgreens & Walmart now too!) For $2 you CANNOT go wrong with giving it a try! I am sold on this eyeshadow. They have different color selections, and everything I have tried of theirs I've been happy with. I love neutral colors for my everyday look and these don't seem to crease up as much as others by the end of the day - especially when you use a primer (see #3).

5. Neosporin - (substitute for zit cream)
I saw this on Pinterest and was doubtful, but I've been trying it and it really works. Just put the Neosporin on trouble spots at night before you go to bed, and it heals while you sleep. Not necessarily overnight, but I have truly been able to tell a difference.

There you go! What are you favorite cheap cheats?

oh, i'm right there with you. i'm such a cheap chinawoman it's not even funny.

i used to be a dumb moron and spend a grillion dollars on face cream. like, la mer face cream. why? because i was a moron. now? i spend $14 on argan oil and $36 on face cream and both work even better than that expensive-ass shit. these prices please the hell out of this cheap bitch right here.

so i'm with you on cheaper alternatives. expensive makeup brushes irritate me. why spend $56 on a brush when you can get a whole set of great brushes from ecotools for $12??

I cannot bring myself to spend a lot of money on makeup, so this is great! I'll be purchasing that mascara as soon as my sample size bare minerals one runs out (read: any day now).

I am a mascara FIEND, so while I do spend a boatload on skincare (guilty as charged), I love finding deals on products that I seem to whiz through--like mascara! Definitely checking this out! THank you!

That pressed powder would be amazing for that price! I've tried every primer, cream, foundation, etc... and my oily T-zone always rears it's ugly head :-P

Face cream is the only thing I splurge on (really its only $20) but otherwise it is drugstore all the way. I love ELF, NYC and Rimmel stuff. The NYC eye shadows have been my new favorites. I also got some brown smoky shadows from H&M that i am really loving lately.

Okay, I need to try these Rimmel products! I used to love one of their glosses but they don't make it anymore. Also...Neosporin!? Who knew! I've never tried that!

I've been doing the neosporin thing for awhile! It does help!

I love Rimmel's concealer! It helps brighten my eyes. I'll have to give their mascara a try because I'm getting bored with mine and I feel like it dries out too quickly!

totally not cheap frugal for sure! I love Maybelline eyeliners especially their new line of thin liquid liners :-)

There is nothing wrong with being frugal! I tell you, you've probably got more cash saved up than me! I am 100% on the ELF bandwagon! However I do splurge on other beauty products like my foundation. This isn't in regards to beauty, but I buy all my cleaning products at Dollar General. Same products you get at Wal-Mart or Target, but about $2-3 cheaper!

I love my cheap friends ;) And I LOVE Rimmell mascara... they always have the best kind and at such a good price!

Have you tried the Cover Girl eyeshadow primer? It's EXACTLY like MAC's which I swear by for most of my products. I love it! I use Rimmell Scandaleyes mascara so I will try yours next. :)

Oh my gosh, I always do the Neosporin thing. I'll put it on a zit and cover it with a band-aid. Helps SO much.

And I love Rimmel EVERYTHING.

AiringMyDirtyLaundry said...

I am cheap so this is helpful. Sometimes I'll get CoverGirl stuff but only if I have a coupon.

Stephanie said...

Love the stay matte, I want to say I'm sandstorm too. Pretty sure. I try a new drugstore mascara every time, I'll look for that one next!

Janna Renee said...

I love all the cheap stuff! I use neosporin, but I put one of the little spot bandages on top. With the bandaid, it really can heal overnight ;)

Amanda - Voyage of the MeeMee said...

I love Stay Matte! I use the "translucent" one. I even like the smell of it. I know that's weird but if something is gonna be on your face all day it better smell damn good or not smell at all.
