I got the fever...

The baby fever that is, and it ain't no joke! I am totally and completely blaming this on all my girlfriends who have kids. ALL YOUR FAULT! I have developed from this person who used to ditch my friends with kids into this person who wants you to bring your baby when we hang out. It's such a strange thing for me!  Stop having the cutest kids ever and maybe that will solve it. Or maybe if I could stop getting older that would help? I don't know but it's got to stop!!
Except pretend this is Peeta from the book, not Peeta from the movie
It's been sloooowly creeping up on me over the past couple of years though. I found this post I did back in October 2011, first one from my Baby Fever label. Kinda makes me laugh now to think I felt "behind everyone" then and I was only 5 months away from getting engaged and just one year out from being single. Nice plot twist there...

So this is how it works when you're in your late 20's and single:
-You will date guys with kids now
-You have a cut off age for when you want to have kids
-You have a  guy friend who you have already contracted his sperm, should you still find yourself single around that cut off age
-You realize that by your age, your parents already had multiple kids
-Your family starts skipping the "when are you getting married" and go straight to the "when are you having kids" questions
-You have researched freezing your eggs
-You definitely have your baby names picked out so things can proceed quickly, if necessary

I hope you are laughing right now because that is the straight up truth and you know it!! I only have 6 years until my cut off age y'all. That is some scary business!! I hate that I even think of these things and can't just be patient during this season of waiting. No wonder men think all women are crazy.... let's face it, we are.

I've been feeling the fever too lately. I think your right, it's hard not to when your friends have the cutest kids ever!

And I agree with every detail of that list. We just have to be patient. God will send us some pretty amazing men, I know it!

This is hilarious! I totally thought I would have had 2-3 kids by now, but it is what it is. The fever is real though!

On sweet friend!!! I think I'm pretty immune to baby fever (we'll ignore the little dose I had of it last year when I was spiraling out if control and searching for anything to grasp on to). I also thought my family was a safe place--I'm the last kid and the last one without kids--they've all got kids coming out their ears so I never felt the pressure because it was taken care of. Well--now all those kids are fairly grown and everyone is putting all this pressure on my uterus. Back off, homies! I'm still too selfish right now for babies--but I AM enjoying my friends who are going down that path. I love that you've contracted out your friends sperm! Amazing! Haha

This is so true! I'm 2 months shy of turning 28, and this baby fever is a very real and scary thing! I always said I wanted to be married for a little while before I have kids, but now I think, uh will I have time to waste? LOL!

But, I hear you. Babies are sweet beautiful things, until they start crying haha!

I am opposite! A few years ago I wanted to be married with kids SO badly and now that I'm around the age I expected to be married by, I'm like NOPE. I can definitely wait another few years at least!

I will say, IF it happens, I'd be happy about it of course. But it's definitely not something I'm aiming for at the moment!

In a way I'm in the same boat...a tad bit worried that one baby is all I will ever have. I'm beyond blessed by him but my heart never felt I would have only one..You've got soo much time left, it's FOR SURE going to happen for you..I mean you're pretty rad :) a guy is going to be so blessed to marry you!

OMG you hit the nail on the head on this one. i am right there with ya. sucks after a break up when youre older cause youre like damn, now i have to start all over, which is going to delay this entire timeline!

I'm almost 28 and been married since 2011. I don't even want to think about having kids until I'm 30 or 31.

Christa said...

I love you like a fat kid loves cake, but to quote Whitney: "what in the actual fuck??"
Having babies means you are the automatic DD for 9+ months; you cannot just go see JT or Luke because you have to find a sitter for your youngins; you will be covered in someone else's bodily fluids at all times...aint nobody got time fo dat. If your fever is that sever, tell Dylan to get crackin and get you get yourself some more cow bell :)

I get baby fever and then I go but I really like sleep! My sister has 3 kids and I'm a great babysitter ;-) I'll keep it at that for a little while!

Haha, I need baby fever and ASAP! I'm closer than I ever was so that's something :)

I've always had the opposite of baby fever... we'll call it baby frostbite, shall we?

ty said...

I nodded my head through all of those. Let's hear it for thirties!

Micah said...

I have researched sperm donors and artificial insemination. But then I think about actually doing it all on my own and it's scary! I really want to have a baby someday, but sometimes I'm just not sure it's in the cards.

Janna Renee said...

Haha, if I was single maybe I would want babies, but now that I'm married? I like things just the way they are!

Kelly said...

It's crazy how things can change so quickly so don't worry that you "only" have six more years until your cut-off age. That is a LONG time! On the other hand, I am quickly approaching my "cut-off" age and am still finding that I may not actually be ready. Go figure.

Jill @ Bluegrass Belle said...

When we got married, I said we were on the 5 year plan. Well, we've now been married 9 years. Even when you think you'll be ready, you may not be, and then when you are, it may turn out not to be as easy as just doing the biznesz! Everyone has their own journey through the process so don't feel like you're crazy :) (how Bachelor did I sound just now?! "journey")

Erin P said...

I used to think about all those things too! Sadly, it doesn't get any easier in your 30's and now I'm pretty sure no kiddos are in my future. It's all about acceptance with where you are in life. If it's meant to be, it will happen. ;) Hang in there girlie!

Don't rush it! My kids aren't babies but 6 and 8 years old. I can rent them out to you Anytime. Those babies become kids that you have to taxi to activities, help with homework, and wash their filthy baseball clothes. But you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way!

By the way, our pastor said something in church last week and I immediately thought of you. I think God placed you on my mind at that moment because it is something he wants you to hear. Email me at tinatncol@gmail.com and I will share.
