Labor Day Weekend Lessons Learned

I wanted to share with you a few lessons that I learned over the rainy labor day weekend:

1. Car wrecks suck! See a picture of my poor wrecked car here. I'm feeling much better today and my soreness is starting to fade away, but I miss my car! I should find out today or tomorrow whether they are going to total it or try and fix it. I'll keep you posted! I am very thankful for all your sweet comments the other day - luckily, the only damages were to cars and not to bodies.

2. Nothing makes you feel better when you're gloomy over a smooshed car than this little face! A close 2nd would be watching the #retroMTV The Hills marathon allllll weekend long. I forgot how much I loved that show!

3. I can't find the pandemonium book anywhere! I looked all over Knoxville this weekend. Guess I will have to order it on Amazon. I'm ready to find out what happens next. It was a rainy Labor Day weekend - thanks to Hurricane Issac - so no lake time. It would have been the perfect time for me to hibernate with a book.

4. I hate veils! I went on my first outing to try on wedding dresses yesterday. I was worried about it because I typically am not a big fan of trying on lots of clothes. I get frustrated easily when things don't look the way I want them to. However, I had a blast and I felt so pretty! I brought my MOH, aunt, cousin, soon to be mother-in-law and step mom with me. It was like playing dress up! I found 3 gorgeous dresses, but since it was my first time I wanted to check out a few other shops before choosing a winner. But lesson learned: veils are not my style! They remind me of creepy corpse brides - weird, I know!

5. The life of a cop's wife during football season will frustrate me to no end. I try not to complain very much about Skye's work schedule. We are so blessed that has a job that he loves and I'm so proud of him for the work he does. BUTTTTT...I do get a little pissy when I have to spend holidays alone and HE'S NOT OFF FOR ANY UT FOOTBALL GAMES THIS YEAR! I could die. I know that's so stupid and minor, but it's the way I feel so there. Grrrr!

Let's get excited for a 4 day work week! WOOT WOOT!

I can understand veils not being your style, you look so pretty though! I always thought I would go traditional and wear the veil over my face walking down the isle, but I wanted everyone to see my face so I chose not to go that route, ha!

We saw so many accidents this weekend. :/ I'm just glad you're ok. I hope that your car will be fixable... or you get a shiny new one without too much trouble. <3

I went in may with a friend who is getting married to try on wedding dresses. I hung out in the veil section way too long. Some were pretty creepy, puffy 80s styles hair accessory and I even threw on one of those super long ones that go to your waist. Glad you are doing ok

I am not a veil fan either. I have visions of a veil blowing away at my outdoor wedding. I think a flower, or other type of hair accessory is the way to go!

Aw look at that little face, just trying to make you feel better! I bet Tilly is a Hills fan too. Crazy to watch the old episodes and see what Heidi used to look like!!
I don't like veils either, they cover too much of all the pretty hair and makeup you spent all that money on! Plus, it's awkward and people pull on it while hugging you. I think you'll look gorgeous without one.

Oh no! You're poor car! I certainly hope that you feel better soon and figure out if they can fix it!

Wedding dress shopping is THE BEST! I think you look so pretty in the veil, but they aren't for everyone so definitely do wha YOU want!

Glad to hear you are feeling better! If I had to venture to guess I'd say they ate gonna total your car out. I'm sorry. That stinks about Skye not being able to be around for any games with you! Keep your chin up!

I hope youre ok!!!! That's so scary! I bet the little munchkin was so worried about you. I hate veils too - I did not want to wear one but my mom made me and I couldn't wait to get out of the church and get that thing off my head!

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you're ok!!! Car wrecks really are NO FUN! Been there, done that. But i spent the weekend watching The Hills too!!! I definitely miss that show. And I'm with you about veils, I think they fit certain people, just not me.

Oh, the Hills....best show ever made!!! Love me some LC! And girl, if you don't like the veil, forget about it. There are lots of brides who don't wear them. Keep us posted on the car! So sorry, love!

I'm glad you're OK. And sorry about your car :( Hopefully you're back to cruising the streets soon! And you look pretty in veils, but I totally get where you're coming from. I wore a veil for the ceremony, but it came right off afterwards :)

I didn't do the veil thing either...it totally wasn't me. :) So if it's not you, that's okay...you get to choose (that's the fun part!) ;)
I hope you figure out soon about your car. And if you have to by another one, I know the perfect person to sell you one. ;) lol xoxo

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you're okay! Your veil picture on Instagram definitely cracked me up. I don't know if I'm gonna want one either when the time comes!

Last but not least, I definitely fill ya on the work thing with your hubby. My boyfriend has been putting in 60+ hours a week so our QT has defintely been cut short lately. But, I'm also trying to remind myself that it's paying the bills (and hopefully a ring soon ; )and it'll be worth it in the future! Hang in there!

Glad to hear you're ok! I hope you find out what's up with your car soon- I would have been devastated if that was me! Kudos for not crying! And I have yet to try on dresses, but I don't think veils are for me either. I feel like I would get tangled in it! You look pretty in it though!

That's terrible! I loved my veil, but hey! It's your wedding dear!

Sorry about the car :( at least you're okay. And veils are expensive anyways, be thankful they aren't your style - it'll never be an issue :)

I think you look fabulous in the veil! If it makes you feel better, we just gave up our season tickets after 12 years:( my hubby gets to go to a few but we have no child care for three little ones and a wedding to go to on the UT/FL weekend. Seriously??? Guess I'll be watching from the couch this year:/

I feel ya on the veil thing. It was crazy frustrating because you have a perfect picture of what you want it to look like and it never does. Don't worry...you'll get there! If you get a sec, I'd love to hear your thoughts on my latest posts!

HUGS. I'm glad you're ok. Sorry about the wreck, though. That's terrible :( Did they total it out? HUGS

I'm not a fan of veils, either. At least big ones!!

I hate veils! They look great on other people, but they aren't my style either. I didn't wear one at my wedding. When I see pretty picture of brides with veils I wish I wore one for a split second, but then I remember how bad they looked on me. Go with your gut:)

Charlotte said...

Haha I know, veils are a strange thing, but you still look great!!

erica said...

I did not wear a veil when I got married, they just didn't look good on me at all. I remember trying one on and my mum yelling "get that ugly ass thing off your head right now" lol! xo
