Getting My Groove Back

How many times have you heard me say "I'm sick of being chubby" "I'm getting back on the work out train" "I'm going to meet my goals"?? Probably 10 million. That's also the number of times I have failed to follow through and stay on track.

The struggle is REAL y'all. I was not born with a naturally thin body. I've never had skinny legs, which I have talked about before, and it really bothers me. I had lost some weight back in 2011, and was pretty much at my ideal size and happy. Then my breakup happened. I lost a ton of weight initially and I was skinny! But then it came back (and then some) after maaaaaany months of late nights of drinking away my feelings. And now my body feels like a stranger to me. It's not cute, it doesn't make me happy and it's embarrassing - but I have no one to blame but myself and I take that responsibility.

But this morning, I was in the gym by 5:15am LIKE A BOSS! My girl Manda always helps keep me motivated & we checked on each other this morning to make sure we followed through. In the back of my head I just kept thinking about Jordan & Nikki and wanting them to be proud of me for trying to get back in the 5am club, for real this time. And it feels damn good!! I think I'm back on track finally, and I need this to stick. I'm ready to be proud of myself again!

I know it can be annoying when someone talks all the time about their workouts, but I need the accountability. So when you see my post, my IG pic, or tweet - give me an atta girl instead of rolling your eyes. And I will do the same for you! There is absolute strength in supporting each other.

This morning
My simple goals:
1. Look good naked - I'm single, it's important. For me, not him.
2. Keep up with the 5am club
3. Be happy with my progress
4. Make 4 miles my short run

Woohoo! Way to go Nikki on getting back to the gym and at 5am no less! You are not alone in your struggle to stick with it because I am right there with you. I too need the accountability of talking about my work outs and my journey to a healthy lifestyle all the time. If I don't it's super easy to hide what I'm doing, or not doing.

I look forward to following along and seeing you achieve your goals!

You go girl!!! I have gotten back into the groove of things recently too, I started Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 last Monday and have been getting up at 4:30 am every day to get it in. It is all about habit, you got this!

You go, girl! Since I've been in my 'rut', it's included my lack of work outs too, ugh! That's awesome that you got up at 5!! I tried getting up early to work out (which would def be better), but I love my sleep too much ha Blow IG up!!! I do the same things when I am in the mode! Like you said, it helps you keep accountable!!

I love this post! I'm so proud of you for "getting back on track!" I know its a true saying but I also kinda hate that saying too. I love your simple goals! Mine are the same! I hope we can both use each other as a buddy system until this is back to a habit for us.

And lastly, I love you girl! You are absolutely beautiful to me! So things can only get better, right?

i think it's only annoying when people are digging for compliments. sharing your workouts as a motivator is always a good idea, and hopefully we can all cheer you on and motivate you. good for you!!!

You ABSOLUTELY got this!!! Believe me - I understand the struggle and the frustration of trying to lose weight and get in better shape - I'm rooting for you all the way!!!

This is awesome! I LOVE seeing people tweets/pics about working out because I need all the motivation I can get. I've gained a LOT of weight since I got married and I just can't seem to get into a healthy routine to shed those lb's! Thanks for the inspiration today! :)

Its not annoying at all!! I do the same thing for the same reason. Keep going girl.

SO proud of you! (And Manda too!) You're the one who inspired me to get my ass in the gym at 5am so it looks like we've come full circle! I know you can do this, and I know you know you can too, because you've done this before! Does this mean you'll be joining us again for 30in30?

You got this girly! :)

YOU CAN DO THIS! I know from experience how hard it is. My tip for you is to get a printable calendar and write out your workouts you plan to do for the week on Sunday/Monday. I have mine at my desk at work so I stare at it all day. I love crossing off each day I workout. Life events come up that you'll want to try and make it out, but if your like me and your favorite TRX class is on Thursday nights I will skip the party in favor of the workout. Stay dedicated. You are the only person that stands in your way!!!!!

You can do it!! I can tell you have the resolve this time. I finally got so sick and tired of being chunky and how my clothes fit. And I SWEAR a lot of it is from giving up Diet Coke.

I need to move to Knoxville to join this 5am train instead of living 1.5 hours away from you! I miss running & loosing weight.. You can do it girlie..

Cami said...

Keep it up - you got this!!

Jackie said...

5am...ugh. haha. And with this move, getting back on the wagon is going to be harder than ever. BLAH. I don't recognize the person in the mirror often because of my weight..

Proud of you girl for getting after it and working out LIKE A BOSS! I absolutely need to do the same! You inspire me :) XO

Yep... I'm not naturally thin either and it sucks. I literally just told Joey last night I'm getting too "fluffy" and need to do something about it so I'm right there with you! WE CAN DO THIS! :)

Jill @ Bluegrass Belle said...

Go for it girl, good job! Don't consider yourself a failure if you can't get up at 5am...5pm or 6pm or 7pm is still good!! :)

There's 2 super important parts of working out. Being Realistic & Having Accountability. Sounds like you've got super realistic goal of just getting healthy and a GREAT support system to get you there. You can do it! :)

Three miles is actually my short run, but I usually do at least 5-10 minutes of stretching/lifting/squats along with it, so it's equivalent, I guess. I'm proud of you for keeping up with your desire to be healthy! I'm trying to keep up with mine and not get discouraged when I fall off the wagon. Thanks for helping to keep me motivated too!
