30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge - Week 1 Update

Here we are ladies at the close of Week 1 of the 30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge! My snazzy little self has figured out (hopefully) how to do a link-up so we can all share our week 1 stories.

The lovely and amazing Ms. Sarah created this cute little button for me yesterday. And show Sarah some love because she did it in a hurry and as a huge favor to me! You can find her work here if you like what you see, and I mean how could you not?? Plus she loves the Vols so you know she's a girl after my own heart!

So y'all button up and let's keep each other motivated!
The Pink Growl Link Up

If you are still thinking about jumping on board with our challenge - THEN COME ON! There's still time to play catch up. Manda and I are spearheading this thing and bringing other ladies along for the ride. Here's some info on how my week went. I am trying to log stuff via Twitter & Instagram {nikkib918} too, but I don't want to overload you guys. My life isn't just about working out - or else I would already be at my goal weight!

Facts about me:
  • I am slowly but surely turning into one of those 5:30am gym people - I love it!
  • I enjoy running/jogging. But I'm not a distance runner, but I love the stress relief and pick me up I get from a good 2-3 miler. I would love to train to do a 10K this year.
  • We created this challenge with our personal goals in mind and then adapted it a little so anyone could jump on board. See my original post here. You don't have to be a runner!
  • I have been sick with some cough/congestion/no voice thing all week so I'm giving myself a pat on the back for sticking with it!
  • My personal goal is to lose 8 lbs in the month of March. I am using MyFitnessPal to log my calories and my notepad app on my iphone to log my miles.
  • New love in my life is my Polar FT4 HRM - LOVE IT! And it makes me SO incredibly motivated to see how many calories I'm burning with my workouts. I can't wait to wear it to Zumba on Saturday for the first time!
  •
My total miles for week 1:
Monday 3/4
~walked 1 mile on treadmill as warm-up pre-workout (3.4mph pace)
~ran jogged 2 miles on treadmill for cardio at end of my workout (avg 5.6-5.8 mph pace)
 = 3 miles total

Wednesday 3/6 - side note: I noticed I had a flat tire as I got to the gym yesterday morning so I had to call my daddy and brother to my rescue. Their arrival cut my workout short by about 20 minutes so I'm happy with this!
~walked 1 mile on treadmill, .5 as warm-up and .5 as cool-down (3.4mph pace)
~1.5 miles on stationary bike (avg 16.9 mph pace)
= 2.5 miles total

Thursday 3/7
~walked .5 mile on treadmill at 2.5% incline as warm-up (3.6mph pace)
~ran 1.5 miles on treadmill (5.9 mph avg pace)
= 2 miles total

TOTAL MILES FOR WEEK ONE: 7.5 miles!

I'm pretty happy with my progress simply because I've had multiple obstacles this week. A 7am work meeting on Tuesday, being sick and a flat tire on Wednesday morning. Next week will be EVEN better! I really struggled to get up at 5am this morning, but I told myself that my summer body was not going to make itself by sleeping in so away I went off to the gym. I plan to weigh myself on Monday so I will keep you posted on any weight loss.

Where did you end up? What were your challenges? What can I do to help keep you motivated?? I can't wait to read all your posts!

work it girl!
i signed up for a my first 5k everrr, which is in may. so ive started training for that and im not hating it!
you should try the nike running app, it tracks your runs, gives you distance, avg pace, current pace, etc etc. and it organizes your runs by month, perfect for keeping a tally of your miles in march!

you're an inspiration to all of us!! :)
Landon and I have continued our walks in the evenings and I LOVE it.
I mean the excercise is awesome, and we usually go about a half hour after I finish up with P90X so it helps me loosen up a little.
AND seriously, the best part about it is just having time with Landon away from the tv, and laptops and cell phones. Honestly, I feel like I have talked to him more this week on our little walks than I have in the last month.

I love it.
this is your best idea yet. :)
