Hairy Business

I have a hair appointment on Friday and I am oh so excited about it! I so look forward to getting my hair done. It’s almost as good as getting a pedicure or a massage.

One of the main reasons I’m looking forward to going this time (not to mention the fact that it’s been 8 weeks so my roots are out of control) is because I’ve developed these little Alfalfa like hairs over the past 8 weeks.

I’ve done a little research on this and the trusty Internet tells me often these breakages are caused by blow dryers, flat irons and other heat sources. I have purchased a new flat iron since then, but one of the reasons I got a new flat iron was because these little rascals popped up. (haha get it? Little Rascals? Alfalfa? At least I can laugh at myself.) But y’all seriously, it looks insane! It’s not just one or two little hairs, it’s a whole chunk of hair right at the front of my part. It almost looks like I have tried to cut this section of hair, but I haven’t I promise. In the past, I have been known to dabble in trimming my own bangs between hair appointments, but not this time.

I use product and hairspray and all kinds of gunk but they won’t stay down! I’m hoping that my wonderful hair stylist can fix it or semi-fix it even. I swear to you it seems like they have just developed since the last time I had my hair done. It’s a little embarrassing and I feel like people stare all the time. I hope there’s a cure and I hope we find that cure on Friday.

Have you ever had this happen? Leave it up to me to have strange things happen, even with my hair!

I have been dealing with this as well! My hair grows extremely fast, so this last time, it seemed to have gotten better. I can't go more than 6 weeks between hair cuts (no coloring for this girl!). Good luck :)

I'm sure people aren't staring, even though it feels like it.

Maybe try some layers/bangs so those shorter hairs can grow out inconspicuously?

YES. That IS happening to me. Has been for at LEAST the past three months. (When my hair is curly, you don't see it.) When I got my hair cut in December, she told me that it was because my hair straightner burnt my hair and whatnot...that I had it too hot. Maybe the same for you??

I'm told I have really healthy hair, even though I blowdry it daily, and I still have those wispy short hairs all over the place. I attribute it to the fact that we lose around 100 hairs a day and they have to grow back at some point, but if it's more than what you're used to, probably best to try to repair it or at least lay off the product/heat for awhile. Good luck!!

I hate fly-aways! My hair spray does a really good job of holding them down. I use Living Proof, which is expensive but totally worth it.

It happened to me, too, when I used to straighten my hair everyday. But, that Little Rascals picture reminded me - the other night, we did Waylon's hair like Alfalfa's, when it was wet. He looked at it in the mirror and laughed and said "I'm a girl!" We were crackin' up!

ugh that is so annoying. That happened to me before as well. Good thing is they grew quite fast into my hair but it's annoying while they grow. Can't wait to see your hair do! :)

Happened to me after I had my baby! I am actually getting my hair trimmed and colored Friday, can't wait!

I have had it happened. I used to blow dry and straighten every day, which didn't help. I've cut down on hair washings by using a dry shampoo on in between days, which means half as much heat styling. Also using a heat protector spray helps. I use a john freida one right now, which is pretty decently priced and helps. It also keeps hair straight for a delightful amount of time. I've even slept on it and only had to do minimal restraightening in the morning.

I get those darn fly aways too and it drives me crazy!

I think the reason I dont' like the Real Housewife reunions is because they all just fight and bicker with each other and interrupt each other. Drives me crazy! Like on the RHONJ Teresa was driving me insane! She disagreed with everyone and was just plain mean!
