In my household we have a simple rule about not saying the g-word when it's dark - especially when Nikki has to sleep by herself that night because Skye's on night shift. What's the g-word you ask?? Ghost. I'm a wuss and I would rather be cut into a thousand pieces by an ax murderer than see a ghost. That thought terrifies me. My imagination is a very powerful tool and when provoked she can scare me for days. So usually I don't provoke her. Don't even get me started on my ultimate fear of being possessed by the devil...
Last Sunday night while watching TV I came across Long Island Medium. Everyone knows that I'm a reality TV junkie. I've sampled all the reality shows so I had to give this one a try too. Skye was getting ready for work to leave me for the whole entire night alone so he kept asking me if I thought it was a good idea to watch this show before he left. I've read the John Edwards book Crossing Over and I wasn't afraid. There was a time in my life that I was quite intrigued by all of this supernatural stuff. Basically this is a show based around a medium. She travels around the country and helps people connect with their loved ones who have since passed on. I was in awe watching her on the show and seeing people's reactions. Could it be fake? Sure, it's TV. But it just felt real to me. She tells them details about their loved ones to assure them it's real that they swear no one else could know. And I wasn't afraid. Have you seen this show??
I would love to take my mom to see the Long Island Medium. My mom has some serious issues from the death of both of her parents and I think that might be the root of a lot of her problems in life. I quickly found out that there is a 2 year waiting list for Theresa's services.
In honor of Halloween this month, let's have ghost chat. Tell me your supernatural stories. I will just be sure not to read them alone in the dark. Do you believe in mediums??

Actually her traveling around the country is a new thing! ha (yes, yes...I watch and Eric thinks it's all a joke) I do think she's the real deal for the reasons you said. I normally don't watch those types of shows, but her family cracks me up!
You are just TOO cute! Haha. I love you! You should watch "Red Lights" I think it's called - it's fictional but it's about how mediums aren't really, etc.
Definitely check it out!!

i don't know if i believe in her or not but my mouth is jaw dropping just watch this shit. it's like how freaking crazy is that!
but i'm not saying i'd pass it up if she came along.
Ghosts, demons, spirits, you name it, it scares the hell out of me. I can watch the Walking Dead all night long and not have the slightest problem falling asleep. But I just can't do the ghost thing.
I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about how they went ghost hunting at this abandoned mill that weekend and the dude was telling how he was attacked by a demon. I had to turn it off, I was so afraid. and it was 10 in the morning.
can't do ghosts.
I don't have any supernatural stories, but I am obsessed with hearing about people who go to visit mediums! However, ghosts..heck no. I get so freaked out. I recently went to Alcatraz on the "night tour" and when it got down to it, I was so paranoid I was going to see a ghost!!
YES GIRL! I am obsessed with Teresa. I WANT to go to her so badly. Think it would help me as well!!
I love this show too. I agree that it does seem very real, based on people's reactions and her connection with them.

Ohhhh I love supernatural stuff and believe with all I am in ghosts. I have so many stories for you. I get goosebumps every time I talk about it.
I LOVE Long Island Medium! I get sucked in for hours. I believe it. She knows too much. I love when she just randomly approaches people in public. If she did that to me, I think I would start crying on the spot, before I even heard what she had to say.
wow a 2 yera waiting list?! thats nuts!

I can't even read this thread of comments because I think I'll never sleep again. I am SUCH a wuss. Team wuss, for the win! haha ;)
oh geesh a 2 year waiting list?! wow she is popular. im not a fan of ghosts or anything creepy especially when it comes to being in the house by myself no thank you! even though my dogs are with me i still won't do anything creepy or scary
I actually just started watching this show last weekend - I am hooked! I just want to know if she's legit - it seems like she knows things she shouldn't know, yanno? Very intriguing!
I am the worst at freaking myself out when I am home alone. And scary stories in the dark are the worst!
I love this post. And I REALLY need to get into this show!! As long as it's not scary, I think I might have to (hopefully) find a new episodes and record them to watch when I'm home alone this weekend.
As for ghost stories? I don't have much (other than silly grade school stuff that I actually wrote about on Friday) but when my Granny K passed unexpectedly four years ago, I flew home as soon as I could "take care" of my 17YO sister while my parents were busy with arrangements. My husband flew home a few days later for the service. The funeral was sad but it was so nice to have the whole family together. One night after the service, my sister, husband, and I were horsin' around, spending time together, laughing, having a great time. Greg was chasing us up the stairs and as we were rushing upstairs, WE ALL saw this FLASH of light-- like that from a disposable camera. I'm not joking here. It sounded like one and it looked like it. We weren't sure where it came from.
BUT. My Granny K alllllllllllways had a disposable camera with her. Obviously we all could have just been in the moment and not noticed something else that was going on (other than thinking this was supernatural) but it made us feel better to think that Granny K was taking one last photo of us kids having fun together.
It did not scare us. It made us feel better :-)
I never say never! I say get on that wait list!
I have watched this before and it totally intrigues me...and gives me the chills!! Get on that wait list! I may even try too! :)
Oh yeah I did go to a medium a few times in my lifetime and let me tell you, some of them have been scarily spot on about some stuff!
I'm a little iffy on mediums because some of them are pretty much scamming people so I guess it really depends. I do find it all fascinating though!
I believe in All of that! I went to one like 7 years ago and the shiz she said all came true.
My imagination is crazy too! I'm terrified at being home alone at night. I kept thinking "once I'm an adult, I won't be scared anymore." NOPE. Then I thought, "once I'm a mom I won't be scared anymore." NOPE.
I have mixed feelings. I think a lot of it is made up, but I do think there are some that are real. It's all intersting/creepy at the same time!
New follower! : )
I don't disbelieve. I believe people may or may not have experiences. Me, though, I am totally not up for those experiences. My brother had an experience with our mom the night after she passed away. Anytime I went home after that, I said out loud "God, I am not up for a meet and greet with my mom...no offense mom, but I am not open to that." And that was that. ;)
On my recent trip to New Orleans, I went on a ghost walking tour...you talk about a town with potential spirits floating around, it'd be in New Orleans. And in the blacksmith shop, I captured orbs on my camera. And let me tell you, they weren't planted there. I agree...get on the waiting list!!
Supernatural stuff for the most part creeps me out. But 666 Park Avenue seems pretty good.

I don't have any good supernatural stories, but i did babysit tonight and i told the little boy that the mini-marshmellows he was eating were actually ghost brains. Big mistake. Never again will I try to make a seasonal connection to a bedtime snack.
2 years! Geez Louise!
I don't really have any stories but last year while we were in St. Augustine we took a haunted bar crawl. It was very fun and they gave us these 'detector' tools to find the ghosts. I don't know how much I believe but it was fun! The beer probably made it a little more fun, hahah
I LOVE THIS SHOW! And my girlfriend is actually having a medium come to her house and a bunch of us are getting readings. So excited.
I love these type of stuff! And have so many stories! :)

I love her. I want to talk to her so bad.
I wish I had some supernatural stories. I believe in ghosts and think it would be fun to "meet" one (a nice one, anyway).
I'm not sure how I feel about mediums. I've seen her shows and she seems real but I've also heard so many stories about supposed mediums being con artists.
Two years! Yikes! She must be the real deal!
I watched her for the first time this last weekend. I cried like a baby! So touching.... Love her flashy n trashy appearance... lol
I have to say that I am probably obsessed w/Theresa!!! I watch her show religiously! I struggle with the passing of some of my relatives as well, especially my best friend. So watching her shows, and when she describes some of the experiences, I can definitely relate. For example, I went to visit my best friend on Monday since her birthday was over the weekend. I placed her flowers down. I always sit and 'talk' with her as if she's still here. Tell her how much I miss her and all. Well, it was almost 90 degrees out with a very slight breeze. Mind you, I was sitting in the plain sun, sweating, when all of a sudden a comforting breeze came over, like a cold one, enough to give the me chills. I knew it was her. I have seen this 'light' before near the time of her birthday or passing so I know she's definitely with me.
and I have plenty of other stories, but my hands would hurt from typing haha!
I love watching The LIM, and I do believe she is real. I have seen her on some talk shows and she would randomly pull people and say things that would shock them. It seemed SO real! I had asked a medium once if I could tell if my brother (who passed 6 yrs ago) was around. She told me that I would know he's there, look at your clocks, they are all different. And they were...even the one in the car. Kind of freaky!!
Definitely believe in ghosts. My mom is sure she saw one - the prior owners of our house had a boy who died as a teen in a boating accident on lake michigan. My mom swears she saw his ghost in the doorway one night. Not in a scary way, in a sad, looking for his family way. It actually made me feel bad not scared, and I was a kid when she told me! If she ever saw him again, I think she'd hire a medium to help him on his way, but it's been years so I think he's moved on. Not all ghosts are bad! She's also pretty sure she saw our dog, and that I had a ghost friend as a kid - not imaginary, because she only visited me at night, via my closet.
Maybe my mom and I are mediums!
Love her show! I want to meet her so bad!
I have a story but it's not about a medium....Shortly after my dad has passed, every night I would say my prayers and ask God if my dad was with him.
I bought my parents house right before my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My parents had moved out of the home.
My parents always had a flag swaying on the front of the house and I had left if there even after my dad had passed.
After they had moved out and my dad was gone, their old bedroom became my new bedroom with my fiance at the time. On a clear night with the bright moon out the flag would sway out side and you could see the shadow of it on the ceiling of the bedroom, while you laid in bed.
Once winter came we took in the flag.
A few weeks later, I was saying my nightly prayers and asked for a sign to show me that my dad was ok and safe (I did this for a while, I have so many questions about the after life). I remember staring at the ceiling and watching the flag sway in the wind.
Two days later I remembered that we had taken in the flag.
Happy Halloweenie :)
Soooooo I've been to a medium before & I've seen an actual ghost. The medium experience is UNREAL. I always believed in ghosts before but seeing it happen before my own eyes confirmed it. I've seen James van praagh a few times. I highly recommend seeing a medium. It's an unreal experience & might help you not be scared anymore. And I saw a ghost back in high school & so did my cat dolce. One night i was sleeping & was. Awaken by my cat jumping off the bed & then backing into a corner. I opened my eye & there was a girl who was carrying a candle. She didnt look at me but i watched her float across my room & out the window. Dolce never went in that room again.
i am the same way! i don't have any ghost stories, but i do have a friend who had one living in her house... her family lived in a really small town and her house was like 100 years old. they have seen the woman ghost multiple times, and have now figured out that its the woman who used to live there. she's a friendly ghost, so they're not threatened by her. but the weird thing is that when they found out who she was, they put up a picture of her in the house (i think they knew one of her family members who gave it to them) and they havent seen her since.
i don't think i really believe in mediums, but i find it all to be super interesting. if it helps someone move on, i don't see the harm in it.
I actually like ghosts. Well, I've actually never talked to one or seen one ... so that's probably why I like them. I always think of Casper the friendly ghost. And a 2 year waiting list?! Now that's scarier than any ghost.
I HATE all things scary and spooky! Everyone is talking about that new Paranormal movie, but I will NOT go. No thank you, no m'am.
My dad once got a phone call from my great-grandfather (who I never met), wishing him luck in the navy. He learned about an hour later that my great-grandfather had died before the time that the call was made.
oh my goodness i am such a scaredy cat!! that being said my friends and i had a crazy paranormal activity discussion yesterday which freaked me out!!
i totally believe in demons and angels...and i think mediums have certain abilities and stuff but i typically think it's more evil than good.....it all scares me! whaaa! haha
but i've never watched the TLC show b/c I'm such a wimp ;)
Ghosts freak me out too! I can't watch scary movies and thankfully neither can Ryan. We were debating watching one for Halloween... i think we'll have to sleep with every light on in the house if we do!
